Sunday Musings and Tall Ships

I went off on a photo shoot this morning with my photographic buddy Fran.
We had heard that the Navy was in Pt Adelaide today, so thought we would go and have a look and take some photos.

Isn't it interesting how sometimes a day turns out to be quite different from what you expected?

We went looking for the Navy, but they weren't there.
But what we did find were Tall Ships.

The One and All was in port. I have not seen her up close before, so here was an unexpected photographic opportunity.

Then we walked along to where the ketch Falie is permanently moored.

As we were photographing  the Falie from the dock, we were approached by a gentleman who it turned out was involved with the preservation of the Falie.

He asked us if we would like to go on board to photograph. Of course we said "yes". So he unlocked the gates and we spent a very happy half an hour photographing madly.

What a treat it was to actually go on board this lovely old ship.

So you never know  what opportunities may arise even when it seems that things have gone wrong. Fran and I expected to see Naval ships, but as I found out later, they were miles away at Outer Harbour.

However, we had the opportunity to go on board the Falie which we would not have done if we had not been at the
Pt Adelaide dock today at that particular time  to meet the gentleman who could let us on board. Another day he would not have been there. I love synchronicity!

  1. Where are the Navy when you went 'em? But what a great opportunity to see such lovely vessels. There's something about sailing boats that's so in tune with nature.

    1. Actually I'd rather see Tall Ships any day over modern Navy ships, so I was quite happy to miss them.
