Let's Get Communicating!

How often over the years have you heard people say " We don't talk anymore." ? This is something that people have been complaining about for ever.  There have even been songs written about how people stop talking to each other. We turn away from each other like the Wattle birds in this picture.

The phrase "sending someone to Coventry" is about punishing someone by not talking to them. This alienation causes the breakdown of relationships and in extreme cases, even out and out war! We see this in a small scale with breakdowns in  families and we see this in communities and on a larger national or even global level. I believe that it doesn't have to be like this.

Something I am very passionate about is helping people to  talk to each other, to get their message across and to increase their understanding of others . We all talk. We open our mouths and just let the words come out. We often do not think about what we are actually saying; what the consequences are, or finding out what we really need to know.We try to mind read, in other words, we think we know what someone is thinking. We presume, often incorrectly the we know what is going on. But we don't ask the questions that would give us the information that we need to communicate properly. Misunderstandings happen often and can cause pain and rifts between people unnecessarily.

I am passionate about showing people how to communicate with awareness. How to deliberately create rapport and to use specific ways of using language to gain information. This creates a solid foundation for effective communication. The benefits are huge: Relationships improve; Self confidence improves; Increased ability to verbally protect yourself; Improved ability to think clearly in difficult situations; Increased understanding of what the other person is trying to say, to name a few.

We all want satisfying relationships. When we  stand together like the Magpies on the Lamppost, share good conversation and enjoy each other. Life is Good.
