Ducks and Drakes

I was wandering around the Adelaide Botanic Gardens one day, and I noticed this duck family. I watched the three of them dabbling in a puddle at the start of a path that lead through a garden room to a fountain. The Drake was in charge, herding his mate and chick on a rather indirect route. I had the impression that they were heading for the fountain. What a charming picture I could take if only they would let me close enough. However stealth and patience was not getting me anywhere; or at least that was how it seemed. The Drake was not going to let his family near me. So I gave up and walked over to inspect the fountain. As I walked around the fountain, I suddenly noticed that the Duck family had appeared across my path. In fact the mother duck had now taken over the lead and was a duck with a mission. She seemed to be totally focused and determined to get to wherever she was going and was not in the slightest worried about me with my camera. In fact she brought the little family close enough for me to take this picture.
The moral of the Duck’s story for me is:
·        That patience and persistence win out.
·        You can only get to where you want to go if you focus on your goal.
·        We are all leaders and followers and that sometimes we need to lead and sometimes we need to follow.
