Enjoy The View !

I had the opportunity the other day to visit a private garden in the Adelaide Hills that is part of the Open Gardens Scheme. People who support the Open Gardens Scheme allow their  gardens to be open to the public on designated days.
What a wonderful place this must be in which to live. So many of us are surrounded by fences or live in high rises in suburbia, that we are not able to look out onto a vista every day.
So what? You might ask. Well, science has discovered that when we look out onto a vista that pleases us, our brain releases chemicals that make us feel good. Now that has to be healthy for us physically, emotionally and spiritually.
Personally, I would hate to live somewhere where I could not see the sunset or have to look out on a back fence.

I realise that we can't all live in grand gardens with wide vistas. But we can find places in our neighbourhoods where we can go and just have some quiet time enjoying the view. Going out and about to parks and gardens is not just about getting fresh air and exercise. It is about immersing ourselves in the surroundings, enjoying the vistas and boosting those feel good chemicals in our brains to help keep us healthy and happy.
